Service limitations
Portenoy coordinates home-management services and helps members take informed action. Portenoy does not insure, warrant, or assume responsibility for a residence, its occupants, or the outcome of an incident.
Not an emergency service
Portenoy is not a fire department, police department, medical provider, alarm-monitoring company, utility, security service, or other emergency responder. In any actual or suspected emergency, contact 911 and the appropriate alarm company, utility, or public authority first. Portenoy does not replace, delay, direct, or control their response.
Coordination, not a guarantee
Portenoy may receive information, coordinate access, contact third parties, arrange services, document activity, and communicate status. Availability, response times, access, communications, equipment performance, vendor performance, and outcomes cannot be guaranteed. Services depend on circumstances, local coverage, member authorizations, connectivity, third-party availability, and conditions at the home.
Independent providers
Emergency responders, alarm companies, utilities, contractors, vendors, field responders, and other service providers are independent third parties unless expressly stated otherwise in a member agreement. Portenoy does not control and is not responsible for their acts, omissions, advice, workmanship, pricing, availability, or regulatory compliance.
Technology and information
Cameras, locks, alarms, sensors, networks, integrations, photographs, records, and communications may be delayed, incomplete, unavailable, inaccurate, or subject to failure. Portenoy summarizes available information but does not guarantee that every condition, hazard, event, or change will be detected, prevented, or correctly identified.
Access and member decisions
Members remain responsible for maintaining safe and lawful access arrangements, accurate contacts, emergency instructions, spending limits, insurance, and required approvals. Portenoy may decline, pause, or modify an action when authorization, access, safety, legality, or appropriate professional support is uncertain.
“Contained” and “All Clear”
These terms describe Portenoy’s documented assessment based on information reasonably available at that time. They are not warranties, certifications, insurance determinations, promises that no latent condition exists, or substitutes for an inspection by a qualified professional or public authority.
Member agreement controls
This page is a general summary and does not replace the Portenoy membership agreement, service terms, privacy policy, emergency authorization, vendor agreement, or applicable law. Those documents will define the parties’ rights, responsibilities, limitations, and remedies. Prospective members should review them before enrolling.
